Key Haven, one of my favorites, is located about one mile east of Key West, at mile-marker 5 of U.S. 1. Located on Raccoon Key, this suburb is a small, unincorporated island. This subdivision is home to about one thousand residents.
I have had the chance to live in this amazing community. I rate it at number one on my list of places to have a home in or around Key West. Multiple boating channels offer access in and out of the community. Many Key Haven homes are located on a canal, allowing you to dock your boat in your backyard. The ocean views that many of the homes in Key Haven offer are breathtaking. For instance, there are beautiful real estate opportunities located on what locals call the “Lake”-a very large body of water almost entirely surrounded by homes inside Key Haven. The “Lake” also has access to open waters.
In 2005, MTV filmed the Real World season 17 at a home on Driftwood Drive, Key Haven.
