The area of Old Town next to the Truman Annex is known as “Bahama Village.” It covers 16 blocks between Whitehead Street and Truman Annex. The entrance to Bahama Village is on Petronia Street. Here, patrons find an open air market which also includes shops, galleries, and restaurants. Several Bahamian immigrants that arrived in Key West settled here, creating a rich heritage in this area. Many traditional Bahamian customs are still celebrated here.
The Island Roots Festival and Goobmay Festival take place here. The Goombay Festival is a street festival which celebrates the culture from the Bahamas to Key West featuring live music and food, which is at the beginning of Fantasy Fest.
